The Sicilian Najdorf is a favorite of Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov. It is used as a main weapon against 1. e4. Black tries to stop white from having a pawn duo in the center with 1. ...c5. When cxd4 happens, it allows black to try to use the open C file for his rook. The opening allows both sides to fight for a win. The positions can get quite difficult, but if black can survive white's attack, he can usually get a better endgame. When white plays 6. Bg5, it allows Black to respond with the Posioned Pawn Variation or the Classical Variation. 8. ...Qxb2 is the Poisoned Pawn Variation, The Classical Variation is when black plays 7. ...Be7 to counter the pin set by white's bishop on g5.
